Finger Lakes Museum Lakeside Octagon Pavilion

This frame was cut by a combination of High School Students and Adult Workshop participants in 2019. Although a challenge, compound roof systems are a great way to highlight a frame. There are many structural enhancements in this frame including an elegantly carved Boss Pin, offset spline tie beams, large outer compression ring, smaller intermediate compression ring, directional metal gussets, and tension chains. The octagon has an 18 ft clear span and is on the north-west corner of Keuka Lake in the Townsend-Grady Wetlands Preserve. The springtime raising of this frame in the wetland was a unique challenge for our students.
