Pegs and Pegging
Pegs, Pins, Trunnels, Trennels, or Treenails...no matter what you call them, they are the glue that holds timber frames together. Big Beams offers a wide variety of peg styles in our frames. We offer various styles in 3/4", 7/8", and 1" diameter and allow the design of a particular frame to dictate size and placement. All of our pegs are made from hand-selected hardwood blanks (Red Oak, White Oak, White Ash, Locust, Maple, and Walnut!). This is one of the advantages of our personalized approach to your heirloom frame adding a layer of style and soul you are unlikely to find elsewhere. Our custom decorative pegs can be driven to reveal either the decorative head or stylized-point on the interior of your frame. Although we continue to hand-make our pegs for our own frames, unfortunately, we no longer stock pegs for sale.
